CHAMPIONS TO UNDERGO MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING

E.G.Lewis Group are proud to announce that our four Time To Change Champions are to undergo mental health first aid training via Barry Training Services.

Back in December 2018, we committed to changing the way we all think and act about mental health in the workplace by signing an employer pledge with Time to Change Wales, the growing social movement run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness which supports people to open up to mental health problems.

Time To Change Champions use their experience of mental health problems to change the way people think and act about mental health. Being a champion is a flexible and voluntary commitment. You can do what you have time for, and what you’re comfortable doing.

The Time to Change Wales campaign is delivered by a partnership of two leading Welsh mental health charities.

  • Mind Cymru is Mind's force for change in Wales. Informed in everything they do by people with direct experience of emotional distress they campaign vigorously to create a society that promotes good mental health and that challenges mental health stigma.
  • Hafal (meaning 'equal') is the principal organisation in Wales working with individuals recovering from serious mental illness and their families. They are managed by the people they support - individuals with serious mental illness and their carers.

The 12 hour AMHFA (Wales) course which  how to provide Mental Health First Aid to friends, families and co-workers.

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
The Adult Mental Health First Aid (Wales) course is based on international MHFA Guidelines. Curriculum content is evidence-based, with the input of mental health professionals, researchers, and consumer advocates.

As a participant, you will gain improved knowledge of mental illnesses and their interventions, knowledge of appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in helping individuals experiencing a mental health problem.
