CELINA SHOWS CHARACTER IN SWANS CUP EXIT

E.G. Lewis Group’s player-sponsor Bersant Celina felt his performance against Premier League Champions Manchester City on Saturday showed he had bounced back stronger from his midweek disappointment in the defeat at West Brom.

The Swans had stunned the Premier League champions by sweeping into a 2-0 lead inside half an hour to put themselves on course for a first appearance in the last four of the famous knockout competition since 1964.

Matt Grimes converted for the spot for the first, before the 22-year-old Kosovan international, who spent six years at the Etihad Stadium, gave the Swans a two-goal advantage by finishing a slick team move that saw the Swans string a series of passes out from the back before Celina’s sublime curling effort beating City’s Ederson in goal.

Pep Guardiola’s side would find a way back to win 3-2 in the second half to reach the FA Cup semi-finals, largely thanks to their star man Sergio Aguero.

It was harsh on the Swans, who had shown moments of genuine quality against their much-vaunted in-form opponents, but there will be no trip to Wembley for Graham Potter and his side.

Even so, they can be tremendously proud of their performance in front of a passionate and vocal Liberty crowd.
