E.G. Lewis Group were proud to support Time To Talk Day on Thursday 7th February, 2019 as part of a nation-wide push to get people talking more openly about mental health for the day.

Time to Talk Day is organised by Time to Change Wales, the campaign to change how we all think and act about mental health problems, led by charities Mind and Hafal. Time to Talk Day aims to get as many people as possible talking about mental health. People can struggle to talk about mental health – this years’ Time to Talk Day main focus was bringing together the right ingredients to have that conversation about mental health. Whether that was tea, biscuits and close friends or a room full of people challenging mental health stigma.

E.G. Lewis Group were honoured to join thousands of other groups, schools and members of the public across Wales, who all were having conversations about mental health on Time to Talk Day.

On the day we used the printable resources from the Time to Change Website to get people talking. There were conversations happening all over the office and it felt like everyone got a little closer. Inspired by Time to Change we put encouraging people to talk and breaking stigma at the top of our agenda – with our Time To Change Champions arranging for fresh fruit & biscuit’s to be supplied to all employees across the group as part of our planned activity.

Steven Jenkins, Operations Manager at E.G. Lewis Group had this to say about Time To Talk Day:

"I have seen at close quarters what the effect mental health problems cause to sufferers and their families. It is important that we listen to those who may be struggling and look to support them in the best way.

"The Time To Talk initiative to end the stigma around mental health is a vital one which we will promote routinely throughout our Group".

Did you know that 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year, but many of us are too afraid to talk about it. Starting a conversation about mental health might seem daunting but simply sending a text, checking in on a friend or sharing something on social media can break the ice.

Break the culture of silence that surrounds mental health and talk to your employer.
