YSGOL BAE BAGLAN WIN BEST PRESENTATION AT CRE8 AWARDS FINALS

E.G. Lewis Group are delighted to announce that Ysgol Bae Baglan were presented with the ‘Best Presentation’ award at the South West Wales Business Class Cluster Collaboration Event - CRE8, in partnership with the Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest, Careers Wales and Business in the Community.

Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest provides all householders in Wales with access to advice and support to help them reduce their energy bills. This includes a referral for eligible householders for a package of free home energy efficiency measures such as a new boiler, central heating system, loft or cavity wall insulation, or renewable technologies.

These preliminary sessions have taken place across a number of secondary schools in Wales. During the session, the Year 9 students worked together in teams with one team going forward to represent Ysgol Bae Baglan at the CRE8 Awards Final Event.

Students discussed the topic of Energy Efficiency and the ‘need’ for such a product ultimately building a prototype. With Business Development & Marketing Coordinator, Ben Jenkins the teams not only on their design and success of their prototype but also their team name, how they work together as a team and their presentation of their final product. Team Dynamic were selected for their innovative prototype called the ‘Elec-Chip’ which utilises kinetic energy from the movement of the tires on a vehicle.

Eight schools from across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot were supported by their Business Ambassadors to 'create an energy efficient product powered by a renewable energy source' alongside a business financial task, which was to be incorporated into the team’s presentation.

E.G. Lewis Group as Business Ambassadors alongside Ysgol Bae Baglan, were recognised for their teamwork, communication skills and creative thinking displayed within their presentation in which saw them being crowned with the ‘Best Presentation’ award.

Rebecca Falvey, Head of Business Class at Business in the Community had this to say about E.G. lewis Group’s involvement in the scheme: 

"The Team Dynamic students from Ysgol Bae Baglan were a credit to themselves and their school at the CRE8 Final in Swansea, in which it was lovely to see they way they worked together as a team and alongside their teacher and their business mentor Ben from E. G. Lewis Group.

"They were well deserved winners of the Best Presentation award and provided a lesson to us all in how presentations can be fun and entertaining, whilst the confidence shown was inspiring and most importantly they held our attention and got their message across clearly". 

The aim of the Business Class Cluster Collaboration Event - CRE8, was to provide the young people involved with the opportunity to take part in an activity which enables them to develop work and personal skills. Whilst students gaining additional knowledge of Energy Efficiency, design and about how STEM subjects apply to different careers.
