E.G. Lewis Group were delighted to attend Business in the Community Cymru's showcase & launch awards event at ACT training in Cardiff on Monday 5th November, 2018.
Individuals who attended the launch event got the chance to hear from previous BITC winners about how they’ve developed their approach to responsible business and created real impact.
ACT Training who were the winners of the Responsible Large Company of The Year award, outlined how they have brought together its responsible business practices under three key areas: delivering inspirational learning programmes; developing the team and networking; and improving the future of the business and communities which it serves.
Next up was Castell Howell, Wales’ largest independent food wholesaler who were recognised with an award for their work within the environment in Wales. Set up in 2013, its Green Team originally focused on reducing waste but more recently expanded its attention across administration, storage and fleet operations.
One award that stood out for E.G. Lewis Group was that of the work of Trivallis, who received an award for their volunteering impact within Wales. Situated in the heartland of the South Wales Valleys, Trivallis has successfully used its experience and expertise in organising large-scale volunteering projects.
The organisation committed to 12 projects in 12 months and one such project is the work carried out at Ysgol Ty Coch. With over 20 partner organisations and suppliers on board, Trivallis volunteers worked with the school to convert an old building into a brand-new Family Centre – a facility that the school would never have been able to create by itself.
