E.G. LEWIS GROUP COMPLETE INVNCBL CARDIFF 2018

On Saturday 20^th October, E.G. Lewis Group completed the INVNCBL event in Cardiff on behalf of our 2018-19 charity partner Velindre Cancer Centre.

iNVNCBL is an OCR (Obstabcle Course Race) event like you have never seen before. Based in natural beauty spots throughout the Welsh countryside, iNVNCBL is the place to test your love for fitness, fill you with excitement and give you a challenge. Using the stunning, natural welsh landscapes as the backdrop for our races we are proud to combine nature and sport innovation.

It all started with the very first event ‘The Burn’ based in Cowbridge, Wales. Adam Jones a retired Welsh rugby player and his Lawyer wife Natasha Louca-Jones moulded the idea of challenge, fun and utilisation of the Welsh countryside. Such a success, the demand grew, as an innovative OCR, Adam and Natasha went on to create the iNVNCBL race series.

The fundraising partnership with Velindre will see E.G. Lewis Group engage in numerous fundraising events and activities over the next 12 months to raise vital funds for the Cancer Centre. The team set about raising £500.00 in support of Velindre as part of the iNVNCBL event, which we are pleased to announce has been surpassed.

The money raised from E.G Lewis Group’s fundraising will be used to ensure the best possible support is offered to every patient, their families and carers dealing with cancer. It will help Velindre to fund ground breaking research, specialist equipment, and new developments so our staff have access to the most up to date training and techniques available.

Steve Jenkins, Operations Manager of E.G. Lewis Group had this to say about the iNVNCBL team:

“I was delighted to attend the event which was an extremely challenging and daunting course. I was glad I was only a spectator, as it was a huge task for our team to overcome.

“It was never in doubt in my mind, that our team consisting of Hannah, Gary, Gareth, Andrew and Ben would fail to accomplish such a difficult challenge.

We all know of family, friends and loved ones who have been touched by cancer. The incidence of cancer is rising by 2% each year in Wales with nearly 20,000 people diagnosed with this illness each year, and by 2020 one in two of us will develop cancer and 150,000 people will be living with a current or previous diagnosis of this disease.

Steve Jenkins added: “Watching the E.G. Lewis Group team cross the finishing line with huge smiles on their faces despite being totally covered in mud and water gave me a huge sense of pride in them as individuals and as a team. It just goes to show what teamwork with the right people working together can achieve. Well done all and my huge personal thanks for a superb effort.
