E.G. LEWIS GROUP WELCOME APPRENTICE MACHINIST

Skelton Thomas Engineering on behalf of E.G. Lewis Group are delighted to announce the employment of our second apprentice within the workshop division.

28 year old Christian Sanders, who studies mechanical engineering at NPTC Group of Colleges Neath has joined the group as an apprentice machinist via Pathways Training.

Pathways Training is the work-based learning department of NPTC Group of Colleges, and is one of eight training providers that form Skills Academy Wales. We work with our partner organisations to provide a broad range of industry-recognised qualifications across Mid and South-West Wales.

Pathways Training works with employers to provide ESF-funded workplace training opportunities so that learners can gain industry-recognised qualifications whilst gaining valuable experience in the workplace. Learners earn a wage whilst also benefiting from gaining job specific skills through working with experienced staff; they also receive additional support from our staff to achieve their qualifications.

Employers can also benefit from off-the-job training to equip employees with the knowledge and accreditation specific to the industry which can result in increased productivity.

Gareth Matthews, Workshop Manager had this to say about the second apprenticeship scheme in as many weeks:

“We are delighted to welcome Christian to the Skelton Thomas Engineering workshop as an apprentice machinist.

“Once again, this scheme highlights our continued support provided towards career-learning opportunities for young people in South Wales.
