South Wales based specialist industrial contractor, E.G. Lewis Group, are delighted to have become the main welding and fabrication workshop partner at Grŵp Colegau NPTC Group of Colleges, School of Engineering department.
Following on from our successful apprenticeship partnership which was re-launched back in 2018, the E.G.Lewis Group’s portfolio of companies will be displayed throughout the main welding and fabrication workshop at Grŵp Colegau NPTC Group of Colleges Neath premises. The partnership has also seen an increase in a number of employees participating in ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop their skills and talents required to become more employable and create meaningful careers, whilst two individuals have now enrolled on BEng (Hons) Industrial Engineering Design (Mechanical) courses for the first time.
The School of Engineering offers disciplines in Mechanical, Maintenance, Fabrication and Welding, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Electronics, Automotive, Vehicle body, and Repair and Refinishing. Equally, the department provides full and part-time programmes of study, designed to meet the needs of employers within Wales, the UK and overseas. Even more, all qualifications offered are nationally recognised which will enhance students’ employment opportunities within their chosen discipline.
The purpose-built workshops and classrooms within the School of Engineering consist of state-of-the-art engineering equipment and computers. More specifically, the workshops contain manual lathes, milling machines, and engineering benches, while separate specialized workshops and classrooms contain Haas advanced (CNC) Computer Numerical Controlled machines in both Milling and Turning.
Last week, E.G. Lewis Group, showcased its commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students. The #OurPeople campaign is centred around sharing the experiences of employees who are developing their skills and talents within their role.
