GROUP SELECTED AS JUDGE FOR THE WALES RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS AWARDS 2020

South Wales based specialist industrial contractor, E.G. Lewis Group, are delighted to announce that we have been selected to join the panel of judges for the Wales Responsible Business Awards 2020, which will be hosted by PWC at its offices in Cardiff and will take place on Wednesday 25 March, 2020.

The Wales Responsible Business Awards celebrate and champion the inspiring businesses throughout Wales who make a difference by taking action to build inclusive workplaces, stronger communities and address environmental challenges.

E.G.Lewis Group became a championing responsible business and building healthy communities by joining the UK’s largest and most prestigious responsible business network back in September 2018. By becoming a member of Business in the Community Cymru, E.G.Lewis Group has committed to being an advocate of responsible business and to be the best it can be in delivering social, environmental and economic sustainability across all areas of the business.

So, why enter the Wales Responsible Business Awards?

The awards are free to enter for companies of any size, sector or scale to enter. All entries benefit from a high-quality judging panel of senior business leaders who are handpicked for their knowledge and expertise. Entrants are given an opportunity to receive valuable feedback from this group of individuals.

The award categories are as follows:

- Responsible Large Business and SME of the Year Award; Through the Responsible Large Business and SME of the Year Awards, Business in the Community (BITC) Cymru seek to recognise companies in Wales which are moving beyond box-ticking and one-off corporate social responsibility (CSR)-style activity. The awards celebrate those employers which are demonstrating to staff, customers, clients, suppliers, neighbours, stakeholders and the nation that business is a force for good and makes a positive difference to the challenges we face in Wales.

- Diversity & Inclusion Award; This award recognises businesses that have inclusive workforces reflecting the diversity of UK talent and enable everyone to reach their full potential in their workforce. Successful entrants should evidence that their business is having an impact in creating and age inclusive workforce where people of all ages can thrive, improving diverse representation of black, Asian, minority ethnic (BAME) people at all levels and progression of BAME employees in leadership roles, embedding an inclusive culture where women are empowered to succeed and are represented at senior level & ensuring all recruitment processes are free from discrimination and bias.

- Environmental Leadership Award; This award recognises businesses that are innovating across their value chain to repair and sustain our planet by redesigning products, services, and operations to increase resource productivity and eliminate waste, understanding natural resource dependencies and re-building the health of water, land, and biodiversity & acting to radically cut carbon and increase the use of renewable energy.

- Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water Health & Wellbeing Award; This award recognises businesses that embed health and wellbeing into their culture, creating good work that enhances the wellbeing of everyone by demonstrating leadership behaviours that enable an inclusive culture by embedding wellbeing into management accountability, operations and tools, creating psychologically safe work environments where people can function to the best of their ability & positioning health and wellbeing as strategic boardroom issues.

- NPTC Group of Colleges Education Partnership Award; This award recognises exceptional examples of business-education partnerships that address educational inequality by working in partnership with schools and/or other partners to ensure that disadvantaged young people build the skills, confidence and networks needed to thrive in future work & collaborating with education partners to guarantee that young people have the knowledge they need to succeed, with focus on tackling the attainment gap for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

- Talent for Future Award; This award recognises businesses that are removing barriers to work and helping people to thrive in their professions and careers by overcoming barriers to employment for multiple groups, for example ex-offenders, refugees, ex-military personnel, homeless people, and young disadvantaged people, creating talent pipelines for people who face barriers to employment & offering good jobs that are secure, pay fairly, and offer opportunities for development and progression.

- Wales & West Utilities Building Stronger Communities Award; This award recognises businesses that address the long-term social, economic and environmental needs of communities that are important to them by increasing collaboration with multiple business partners that play an active part in the social, economic and/or environmental regeneration of local communities & co-designing long-term responses to local challenges that have a lasting, positive impact.
