South Wales based specialist industrial contractor, E.G.Lewis Group, is delighted to announce a team of 25 employees have become mental health awareness trained as part of a bid to remove the stigma of mental health and get people talking.

Time To Change Champion and Mental Health First Aider, Ben Jenkins, has recruited 25 mental health advocates from across E.G.Lewis Group’s diverse range of services which includes both office and site based employees.

“Everybody within our business has either been affected personally or knows somebody who has suffered with mental health issues at some point in their life,” says Ben, “it affects us all and it’s not going away. I was keen to continue our good work surrounding our Time To Change Wales pledge by trying to make a difference and to help our people know that nobody has to go through it alone.”

Each of the twenty five employee’s completed the four hour session which raises awareness of mental health by MHFA England, covering what mental health is and how to challenge stigma, a basic knowledge of some common mental health issues, an introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing alongside gaining confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

Ask Twice. Sometimes we say we’re fine when we’re not. To really find out, ask twice. It shows we’re willing to be there and listen – now or when your friend or colleague is ready to talk.
