CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWTICH ON FOR TAIBACH RFC

Port Talbot-based Taibach RFC, a grassroots rugby and football club run by volunteers attended this year's Christmas lights in Port Talbot over the weekend over the weekend.

This year Aberavon RFC, along with local the community, local town councillors and movie actor Michael Sheen have raised over £11,000 to provide the town with better Christmas lights. Chris Davies, Aberavon's RFC commercial and marketing manager, had confirmed that the GoFundMe page had three high-profile donations, totalling £5,000 from Michael Sheen, British author Neil Gaiman and composer David Arnold.

Taibach RFC’s under 7's were out in force for the switch-on of the Christmas lights, wearing their full-zip training winter jackets sponsored by the South Wales based specialist industrial contractor, E.G.Lewis Group, which were supplied to the team back in February.

The switch-on of the Christmas tree took place in Port Talbot's Civic Centre Square and the Christmas Parade then proceeded along Station Road to the square opposite the town's Transport Hub. The Transport Hub square will also host the town's Christmas Market throughout the festive period.

The Christmas lights and decorations were lit up as the parade progresses through Station Road to the town's Transport Hub where there will be festive drinks, food and other refreshments and Christmas gifts on sale. Music was provided by Seronata Choir at the Transport Hub and Afante Ladies Choir at the Civic Centre Square along with Father Christmas.
