Ysgol Bae Baglan, one of the first all-through schools in Wales, has been boosted by the support of E.G. Lewis Group.

Business Class partner, Ysgol Bae Baglan was a landmark project for the Welsh education sector. The single biggest investment in schooling infrastructure in Neath Port Talbot's history, the £40 million project created a new 'through school’ back in 2016 - a unique education model providing seamless schooling from ages three to 16.  It combines four existing schools - three secondary, one primary to house up to 1,500 pupils. The school has received funding which has gone directly into the purchase of forty five new triathlon suits for the team, which will see the pupils wear the suits over the next three to five year period.

Business Class is tried and tested programme, developed by Business in the Community alongside Careers Wales, that builds lasting partnerships between business and schools in Wales.  Those partnerships, based firmly on the needs of the school and the priorities of the business, will transform the life chances of young people and develop talented employees for the future.

By bringing business and schools together in a structured way, Business Class improves young people’s understanding of the world of work and their awareness of career choices, and develops their employability skills. Business Class provides holistic support to help schools develop a more effective environment for learners.

E.G.Lewis Group first encountered Ysgol Bae Baglan back in January 2019, as a group of year 9 students alongside Business Ambassador Ben Jenkins, were recognised for their teamwork, communication skills and creative thinking displayed within the Business Class Cluster Collaboration Event - CRE8 presentation, which saw the school crowned the ‘Best Presentation’ award at University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s SA1 Swansea Waterfront campus.

Mike Bowring of Ysgol Bae Baglan had this to say in relation to the support:

“The sponsorship that we have received from E.G.Lewis Group has been simply amazing. This has allowed us to buy the school triathlon suits that the pupils will be able to wear in all upcoming events and training sessions. The sponsorship has allowed us to have a prominent identity and the young athletes have now got a club that they can be proud of and take ownership for. In recent events, the triathlon suits have been commented on by many on lookers and we have had many enquiries about the club enquiring about additional support which may be required.

I cannot thank E.G.Lewis Group enough for all the help, support and extremely generous sponsorship provided. We look forward to working with Ben alongside the business for years to come.”
