SANDY BEAR RECEIVES E.G.LEWIS GROUP'S BACKING

On Saturday 19th October, E.G.Lewis Group, was proud to provide support to Sandy Bear's DIY SOS call to help paint and decorate the garden at their new Milford Haven base, in order to brighten up the facility for children who use the support service.

Sandy Bear, is a children’s Bereavement Charity which aims to provide intervention to children and young people aged 0-18, and their families who have experienced a bereavement that is impacting upon their emotional health and well-being.

It was announced in March of this year, that Sandy Bear had been chosen as Valero Pembroke Refinery's charity of the year. The Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity will receive a special focus from the refinery’s community engagement, volunteering and fundraising activities throughout the year.

The charity was established more than 20 years ago, and helped hundreds of children and young people. But in 2016, the specialist grief service was closed down after funding from PCC and Hywel Dda University Health Board dried up. After a passionate 17-month fundraising campaign, the service was revived in November 2018 as an independent charity and after only six months of relaunching, moved into a new headquarters in Milford Haven.

Steve Jenkins, Operations Manager at E.G.Lewis Group had this to say about the charitable initiative:

“We were delighted to offer our support to such a wonderful charity (Sandy Bear), that makes such a significant impact upon the health and well-being of young children and their families across Pembrokeshire.

“It was an honour to work alongside Valero refinery on a tremendous charitable initiative, which I would like to place on record my personal thanks for allowing us the opportunity to support the DIY SOS call on the day.”
